UY Series machines have an internal suspension system that absorbs vibration during high-G extract. The floor structure doesn't need to anchor extreme forces. That means:

• Upper-floor installs are routine — no foundation pit, no floor reinforcement required

What is a softmount washer-extractor and why would I choose one over hardmount?

A softmount machine has an internal suspension system that absorbs vibration during high-G extract. This means it can be installed on upper floors or vibration-sensitive structures without foundation work or anchoring — something hardmounts cannot do. Softmounts also typically deliver higher extract G-forces (UYT goes up to 400 G), which means shorter dry times and lower drying utility costs. The trade-off is a higher up-front cost vs hardmount.

Are these washer-extractors for residential use?

No. UniMac UYT softmount washer-extractors are commercial-grade equipment built for institutional and industrial laundry operations. They are sold for commercial use only and are not suitable for residential homes.

What is the difference between small UYT (20-70 lb) and large UYT (100-275 lb)?

Small UYTs (20-70 lb) deliver 400G extract (350G on 70 lb), water re-use capability, automatic door unlock, and 4-compartment soap box. Large UYTs (100-275 lb) deliver 350G extract, dual drain, 3rd water inlet, fast fill valves standard, 5-compartment soap box, and 3 air-operated water inlets (180+). UYT 180+ also offers an optional Forward Tilting System for easier unloading.

What is the Forward Tilting System and which machines have it?

The Forward Tilting System is a power-operated tilt mechanism that rotates the machine forward to make unloading large, heavy loads much faster and reduce operator strain. It's an optional add-on available on UYT180, UYT230, and UYT275 (SKU position 10 = F). For high-volume institutional and industrial laundries running multi-shift operations, the labor savings are significant.

Which voltage do I need?

Voltage selection depends on what is available at your facility. Small UYTs (20-70 lb) offer X (200-240V/1Ph) standard or N (440-480V/3Ph) upgrade. Large UYTs offer Q (200-240V/3Ph), P (380-415V/3Ph), N (440-480V/3Ph), M (208-240V/60Hz/3Ph for 180+), or 4 (400-480V/60Hz/3Ph for 180+). What is the difference between Prep Steam, Direct Steam, and No Heater?

No Heater (0): the machine has no built-in heater — bath temperature comes from your incoming hot water supply. Prep Steam (P): no built-in heater but plumbed and prepared for direct steam injection if you decide to add it later. Direct Steam (D): factory-installed direct steam injection for fast heating during the wash cycle. Direct Steam is the right answer for most institutional operations where you have building steam available.

Does the price include freight and installation?

Can a softmount be installed on an upper floor?

Yes — that's the primary advantage of softmount over hardmount. The internal suspension absorbs vibration so the floor structure doesn't need to anchor extreme G-forces. We still do a site survey to confirm floor structural capacity, drain location, and utility availability before order.

What warranty comes with a UniMac UYT softmount?

Every UYT machine includes a 3-year limited parts warranty, plus a 5-year limited warranty on the frame and cylinder shaft assembly, and a 5-year limited warranty on seals and bearings. HM Commercial Laundry is the authorized warranty service provider for NJ, eastern PA, NYC, and Delaware.

How long is the lead time?

Standard configurations on common capacities (20-100 lb) typically ship in 4-8 weeks from Alliance Laundry Systems. Larger industrial machines (135-275 lb) and Forward Tilt configurations can run longer. We confirm current lead time at quote.
